You dont take pic of it. Start app on phone then point to 2d barcode. it instantly ask if you want to go where ever barcode wants to send you. I hate people who right articals but dont play with what they write about first.

Also there are several 2D scan apps out there. “i-nigma” is one.

I had my friend download the ScanLife application to his iPhone so I could give it a test drive.

For starters, the application can only read and decipher proprietary EZcodes. Unfortunately the ScanLife application offers no support for 1D UPC/EAN barcodes, or Data Matrix, Aztec, or QR codes. This is the major downfall of the application, since it only supports one proprietary 2D symbology. As a result, ScanLife is not a true universal code reader.

There’s a few other code readers on the iPhone as well. The Neoreader works well, and it scans Data Matrix, QR codes, Aztec Codes, EAN, and UPC; whereas ScanLife only reads their proprietary EZ Code in the US.

This technology is coming on strong these days.

But the camera is so bad that focusing on one of these codes (essentially a macro type shot) is about impossible.
