They also marched on to the tune that Apple is being far too restrictive. They said that if the number of downloads of just the iPhone Dev teams unlocking software are any inclination, then several hundred thousand people are running around with unlocked phones. I would hate to be working at the Genius Bar the day after the next iPhone update.

However, since the iPhone Dev team can’t protect your iPhone from bricking with the next update, they are going to do what they can to make the iPhone unlockable with the next update. But until then, they are working on a tool that will completely restore your iPhone to its original factory state.

They further went on to more or less say that Apple is trumping up the terms “damage” and “unauthorized access” when the firmware changes do no damage whatsoever, and its hard to call it unauthorized access on a device that you bought and paid for. However, they do recommend that you not try and update your iPhone, less you want to find out the hard way if the next update does, in fact, brick your iPhone.

    Jeez.. guys at Dev.
You get something to unbrick the phone from “Please insert unlocked SIM” semi bricked state, and make it Virgin, or working again and Ill dump tons of money into your PayPal accounts.

Get it done by tomorrow, and Ill double it.

    This is rediculous..

Anything that can be done to get the 1.1.1 bricked iPhones working to spec (activated by iTunes working with an at&t sim on an iPhone plan) will show apple to be less than credible.

Furthermore, any clear evidence in the code of how Apple is looking for unlocked phones and deliberately breaking them will be damning, and might be useful against them in a lawsuit.
