Loading ...Well we already knew that the new iPhone would be launching on July 11th. What we did not know is what time of the day it would be launching. Well, they guesses are coming in, and 6PM sounds like the winner. That is because last year at launch day, the original iPhone launched at 6PM in Apple and AT&T stores across the nation.
The reason that they launched the iPhone late in the day, is a story of preparation. Apple and AT&T stores will be keeping their doors closed all day on July 11th, so that they can be ready. There will be huge crowds again, and the stores are no doubt getting the stock ready. This is not confirmed yet, but as the day approaches, the details will surely come out.

So - they activate it in store now huh? Is that only at att stores? If you buy from the apple store do you activate through itunes? I would imagine that the apple store would be faster if this is the case….
ok well what I wanna know is, is it worldwide cause I have no more patience left!
I was reading over on HOFO and there is a thread about some memo that a higher up at ATT received a couple days ago, saying that the 3g iPhone will launch and 8am local time in ATT stores….which makes sense because of the instore activations that will come with the new iPhone….just letting everyone know about the new rumors….of course we will have to wait and see a public announcement before setting anything in stone…
