According to a poster at the Australian Whirlpool forums that Engadget picked up, a hidden matrix code is visible on the left side of the 3G iPhone. That's pretty weird, right?

The forum poster found this oddity when using the NightShot function on his camcorder. He just so happened to be filming the back of his iPhone and voila--weird data code becomes visible!

Normally, serial numbers and the IMEI numbers are printed beneath the battery, but since the battery is locked into this thing, they've opted to imprint it on the side in super stealth-like fashion. We don't know 100% what's contained in this code, but it's no doubt a serial code of some sort. What do you think it is?

Check out a higher-resolution image of the data code below.
