I have gone through 2 of the Mophie units now, first one fell to bits, 2nd replacement they sent just didnt work, my advice is to stay away from them. :-(

My husband got me a Mophie for Xmas and I was so excited!! Until about 20 minutes after I plugged it in and my brand new 3GS went totally dead. We powered it off & on and then went about our business again and about 10 minutes later, my fully charged iPhone and fully charged Mophie, totally dead.

We read some reviews on the apple site…boxed the Mophie back up and returned it the next day. Bummer.

Still looking for a good replacement….

Just got the Mophie for Xmas. Had it on my brand new 3GS for 2 hours and it killed my iPhone. We removed it and plugged my iPhone back into it’s normal charger and it came back to life a few minutes later. Read reviews from other users saying it did the same thing to their phones. It’s going back. Nearly $100 and I’m not taking any chances with my beloved phone. LATER!!!!

Katja, unofficially it’s not made for the iPhone 3G, but other than the shell, the connector is essentially the same. I’ve been using the two together for about a week now and they are a match made in heaven.

Well, power is power. If you drive a Toyota Yaris you can expect 30 miles to a gallon. Step into a Mercedes 500 cls and you’ll get half that. The iPhone 3G is faster and more powerful, hence lower battery life. I suspect that there are third party developers (perhaps working with Apple) developing more more powerful batteries, and I would expect to see some solutions in a few months.
