iPhone 1.1.1 catch-up continues, albeit slowly as hackers come to terms with Apple's newly stiffened locking technologies, with mod software iNdependence updated today to bring third-party software and all the glories of Jailbreak to iPhones running the latest firmware version.

No SIM unlock as of yet, and the team behind iNdependence are still recommending that anybody with an iPhone running pre-1.1.1 firmware (especially if it's been unlocked) should hold off on upgrading to Apple's newest software, but if you've recently bought your iPhone and had no choice in its version then this could be your first step into tweaking and general software tomfoolery.

Remember, if you're looking for software to do the same on the iPod Touch - the iPhone's cellular-free sister - then you'll be wanting to look at AriX's iJailBreak application from the Apple-Touch.com forums.
