The OpenMoko Interface is similar to that of the iPhone and LG KE850. All I can say is that I’m loving it…and perhaps more so than the iPhone’s interface; only time will tell.

I’m not saying this because I’m a Linux user and developer, but i LOVE OpenMoko mockup interface so far. It reminds me of one of my favorite Window manager, Enlightenment with its brushed metal background and such. Looking at OpenMoko, makes me wanting the iPhone less and less (well i prefer open source over anything, anytime, any day) and i can’t wait to dig in and make some hacks and application for this smartphone. Enjoy the screenshots of the OpenMoko interface.
Photo above is taken during exclusive party in Vegas where I met Sean from OpenMoko.

ewdi – i agree that the interface looks great, but i have reservations about the overall design of the handset. the iPhone looks way more sexier than the Fic model. plus, from what i can remember, the Fic phone is a lower end model with a price range of $200-$300 – right? also, what do we know about the battery life, storage etc?
Uggghhhh…for my taste the interface is cluttered. The screen seems crammed with too many things…especially the aqua-esque flash and the deep bevels on the keypad. Though I loved the brush metal look a few years back, it’s starting to look antiquated. The icons (though well thought-out) are busy compared to the iPhone’s. And the orange scroll wheel — not sure about the functionality of this if you have to “dumb it down” with directional arrows. Though I probably will not be in the market for either phone, the iPhone wins for style and design. But the open source part? Now were’re talking.
Looks like a poor man’s version of the iPhone to me. It has that overall sleazy NY Times Square look about it. I call it the PimpPhone.
Hey but if it’s not locked down who knows….it could travel.
Nice pictures man. I have your RSS on my forum. Thank you!
