Jim Farley goes on and on (break out the coffee because you're going to need it) about the pros and cons as well as the differences between Palm OS, Windows Mobile and a dab at Symbian OS. The core of his article is simple “ the time has arrived where consumer long for a new operating system offering new user experiences for the mobile devices, such as the forthcoming iPhones. I couldn't agree with you more Jim!

All this led me to conclude that there is a large gap/opportunity in the mobile computing world. The world seems to need a mobile OS that navigates that tricky line between the social, business and design issues inherent in the smartphone market. I want a mobile OS that is visually appealing, has wide adoption (with business and consumer users), desktop integration, enterprise integration, and a great user experience.

I gave up on Palm / Palm OS sometime back for various reasons (definitely for another post), while I dabbed at Symbian OS on the Nokia E61/E70 (I couldn't be happier with the E61), but now I've circled back to Windows Mobile on the T-Mobile Dash. So far, the Dash offers the best form factor and features that I need. Those on Cingular network may want to look into the Samsung BlackJack. It's a very sweet smartphone.

If MacOS would hear us and jump into the bandwagon of mobile business then I’m sure they will do it aesthetically and in functional manner as what they did with their fashionable desktops and laptops.
