Helio turns up the Heat

Worth Reading?

NoYes

Helio is launching a new slider mobile device that’s slim and sleek, all wrapped up into a chic form factor. The Heat is almost the equivalent of the GSM version E900. It’s packed with EV-DO and all the usual Helio goodies.

Helio Heat

The Heat features a wicked technology called electrostatic touchpad. It’s highly responsive with customizable sensitivity (super, high, medium, low) for navigation through a simple finger tap.

Helio HeatOther features include a 1.3-megapixel camera, 1.99 inch high-resolution QVGA display with landscape mode, Bluetooth with A2DP support, and an increased internal memory of 136 MB. The Heat shares the same hardware features as the Drift including GPS and Stereo Bluetooth.

The mobile device is available in two colors: high-glossy Onyx and shimmering Gold. It is now available for $150 at www.helio.com.

Ok, so you’re probably wondering why I’m writing about Helio’s new phone? Two reasons. First, I have a soft spot for Helio. I like the service being offered and I like the people behind the company. In some small way, I feel like we played a part in helping them launch, back in 2006 at CTIA Wireless. Second, Helio is rumored to launch a pretty sweet daul-slider, QWERTY mobile device. Since My iPhone also covers competitor’s handset, it’s important that you’re aware of Helio and what the company has to offer.

    Who cares?

If skeptics and fans alike keep talking up the iPhone’s potential competition you’re only contributing to a self-fulfilling prophecy that the iPhone will fail.

Bugger the skeptics and the disloyal fans, I say. Stick to your guns and the iPhone will be a serious milestone in the history of mobile communication. Keep on bickering and speculating about its cheap and nasty pre-release spin-offs and you’re part of the problem the iPhone is trying to stop: crap phones for dirt cheap prices.
