Hackers unlock the iPhone to work with any AT&T SIM card

The biggest announcement that everyone has been waiting to hear since the iPhone was released is that the iPhone has been unlocked. While we can’t say that the iPhone has been completely unlocked, some clever hackers have managed to partially unlock the phone.

iPhone on AT&T

A new program called iASign created by the guys over at iPhone Dev Wiki will allow you to slip in any AT&T SIM card and be on your way. This includes Go Phone SIM cards, in addition to any other AT&T SIMs.

If you’re a Windows user, don’t get too excited, as the software currently only works on a Mac. It’s also not the most user-friendly program out there, but the team says that they are working on a GUI and a Windows version of the software as well. They’re still working hard on a way to completely unlock the phone, but this is a huge milestone.
