Yesterday we told you about the hack to unlock the iPhone’s vice-like grip on the SIM it’s supplied with; now there’s a graphical guide to doing just that. It’s a lot easier to follow, and by the end you’ll be able to use any Cingular or AT&T SIM card – including pay-as-you-go.

It’s still not possible to use another carrier’s card – for instance T-Mobile SIM – and you need an Intel-based Mac (and to download some free software) to carry it all out, but it doesn’t look to be a difficult process to follow. Hopefully this is just the first step in getting an entirely unlocked iPhone!

As soon as its unlocked and ready to go with a T-Mobile sim i’ll asking you to ship me over a iPhone!
haha
HI,
when u say u can use any singular does this mean i can use any sim from any other provider.
Im in hong kong and can buy the phone here now but unsure as i know the phone wont work. two things i am concerned about are:
1… im not a techie
2…dont want to waste my money if i cant change the siim card from AT and T to a local provider.
many many thanks for your advice in advance.
The article states an INTEL BASED mac is required. Is this correct, that it won’t work with a PPC mac like a G4 or G5?
It worked a treat!!!!
I managed to unlock the phone everything works apart from the phone part (only a matter of time before that gets hacked). My only problem was when I added music and videos, I can’t update them or change them, so once you have stuff on there, you’re pretty much stuck with whatever is on!!!. Is there a hack to get round this problem?
Whatever you do… dont restore the phone with itunes as i did this to try and fix the problem with changing music and videos. Now the phone wont activate anymore, itunes fix must have a new line of code to deter activation. I will endure to hack it again!!!
