Google Maps iOS browser updated, job posting hints at new Apple SOC, Apple requires approval for third-party Lightning accessories

If you’re tired of messing with Apple’s new maps, you’ll be glad to hear that Google Maps on the web has been updated with Street View imagery. Accessing Google Maps from your browser is the only way to get Google Maps on iOS 6.

A new job posting from Apple has turned up looking for a SoC Modeling Architect lead. The indication is that Apple is getting ready to work on a new system-on-a-chip design that may turn up in future iPhones.

Reports have surfaced that Apple requires all factories wanting the manufacturer Lightning accessories to be approved. This comes after we learned previously that the Lighting cables had an authentication chip inside. I wonder if this will drive up the price of accessories.
