The M8 is actually a bit smaller than the iPhone. The actual sizes are iPhone 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.45 inches, and the M8 4.1 x 2.2 x 0.45 inches.

Is smaller better? Until I've held them both in my hand, I can't really be sure. Some will want a larger screen, others will say that the smaller screen with a higher resolution would be better. In the end it just comes down to personal preference.
