The jailbroken iPhone has been the target of several worms and attacks over the last few weeks. A new worm has been found that targets iPhone users on Dutch bank ING online service. The work redirects them to a fake login screen and can act like a botnet.

One enterprising geek has taken his iPhone and built his own macro lens in what may be the ugliest DIY project ever. Apparently, it involves a pickle jar lid and other items.

A second source for a Verizon iPhone rumor has tipped up this week from a research note from Northwest Securities that claims an iPhone for Verizon will hit by the Summer of 2010. The AT&T exclusive is set to end next year according to sources paving the way for this to happen. AT&T had better get their network woes fixed quickly or they will lose many customers if Verizon gets the iPhone.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt has said that the purchase of AdMob by Google will expand the sales of ads that appear in apps for the iPhone. As an iPhone user with lots of free apps, I am not sure that is such a good thing. Ad supported apps better be good is all I am saying.

A new iPhone exploit has been spotted in the wild that is stealing user data. The new worm is using the same vulnerability that the ikee worm did on jailbroken iPhones and this time rather than changing a background image, the worm is stealing data.

New Blu-ray films from Universal will feature iPhone interactivity. The first of the films to offer such interactivity will be the animated film “9″. The feature is called Pocket Blu and will let users enter text with the iPhone rather than the remote.

With two worms targeting the iPhone in only a few days security of the handset is a big topic. The vulnerability from one of the worms is only a threat to those who jailbreak their devices. The second worm is being called a proof of concept and future worms could be malicious.

Strategy Analytics has announced that Apple was the most profitable handset maker for Q3 2009 with operating profits of $1.6 billion. The second place maker was Nokia with $1.1 billion in operating profits. It’s very impressive that Apple does this with only one device tied to one carrier in America.

The announcement is seen as a significant positive note on the state of RadioShack’s mobile phone business.

One of the latest rumors regarding the iPhone is that Apple is set to reveal a world-mode iPhone that will run on CDMA and GSM/UMTS networks next year. If true, it could mark the end of exclusivity for AT&T and the answer of a dream for many iPhone users.

A new worm is attacking iPhones that are jailbroken and use default passwords. The worm apparently originated from the Optus mobile network and apparently other than being annoying causes no harm to the device.
