Some iPhone 4S users are complaining that they are seeing a yellowish discoloration on the screen of black iPhone 4S models. Apple has had issues with a yellow tint caused by glue that wasn’t cured completely in the past.

Apple’s new iOS 5 has proven to be very popular. The new OS is now said to be on 1 in every 3 compatible devices.

Our beloved iPhone turned four years old yesterday. I bet most of us will never forget the huge delays to get one of the first iPhones and the way it changed the smartphone market overnight.

A Japanese firm announced some cool sheets of film called Pic3D that can turn devices like the iPhone into 3D capable offerings. The film uses software that you put the URL of your video into twice to get 3D effects with no glasses.

According to reports Apple is grabbing up so many of the LCDs for mobile devices like the iPad and iPhone other makers are unable to get them. Gear like the Amazon tablets have reportedly been delayed due to the inability to get screens.

iPhone video wall, Musicshake app, $20k iPhone 4

Video walls are very cool with multiple screens that show chunks of the same image. Mongoose Studio has used 12 iPods to make its own video wall, presumably the same could be done with the iPhone.

A new app for the iPhone called Musicshake has turned up. When you launch the app it tells you to shake the phone and it then compiles a playlist for you from the tracks on the device based on user selectable options.

Stuart Hughes has unveiled its latest diamond encrusted Apple gadget. This time the iPhone 4 gets the bling treatment with 6.5 carats of diamonds for $20,000.

Re Remote device pricing, next iPhone to get LED flash, iPhone ultrasounds

A company called New Kinetix has announced an accessory for the iPhone that turns it into a universal remote called the Re Remote. The accessory will ship in March for right under $70.

Rumors turned up that claim the next iPhone to come out will have an LED flash built-in. this is one of the complaints that many iPhone users still have about the device so it would make sense for the iPhone to get flash.

Expectant parents in the UK who can’t make it to see the ultrasound of their unborn child will soon be able to watch the video on the iPhone. The new tech was shown off at CES and should make its way into doctor offices eventually.

Metal Gear Solid Touch video: thumb attack!

Of all the upcoming iPhone and iPod touch games, one of the most eagerly anticipated has been Metal Gear Solid Touch. Now video of the actual gameplay has prompted some to wonder whether the UI is entirely satisfactory, given that much of the time the player’s thumbs are covering up the action.

Announced last December, even the news that it was a simple shooter rather than the stealth title many were hoping for didn’t dissuade too many from MGS:Touch. However earlier pre-release footage neglected to show the gamer’s actual thumb movements in controlling the movement and sniper action, movements which we can now see are pretty intrusive into the gameplay.

Perhaps this is the stealth tactics part that some gamers wanted: predicting when an opponent will leap up behind your right thumb and shoot you before you’ve even realized he’s there. MGS:Touch is available now, priced at $10 from the App Store.

Google demo offline GMail webapp for iPhone: Video Demo

Vic Gundotra, VP of engineering at Google, demonstrated an offline-capable webapp for the iPhone 3G this morning that allows full access to a user’s GMail even while the handset is in airplane mode. The app – which Gundotra described as a “technical concept” – relies on HTML5′s AppCache and Database standards, keeping an on-device store of not only the user-data but the software itself.

Because it uses HTML5 standards, rather than something unique to the iPhone 3G, it means that the software can be run on any other device which adheres to those standards. That enables developers to code a single app which will run on multiple platforms, with the GUI and functionality identical on each; Gundotra demonstrated the GMail app running both on the iPhone 3G and on the recently-announced HTC Magic, which uses the Android OS, since both use the Webkit browser engine. That same engine is also used by Palm for their Pre smartphone, and as such the app will run on that handset too.

As well as offline support, there’s also a floating toolbar that tracks the user’s email browsing, together with support for message labeling. However despite appearing release-ready in the demonstration, Google have made no announcement regarding when the offline-capable GMail app might be released.
