The iPhone OS is ahead of Android on the global market despite being overtaken in the US in Q1 2010. Android is predicted to catch up with the iPhone globally by the end of 2010 or early 2011.

A new beta version of iPhone OS 4.0 has surfaced that hints at tethering finally being offered by AT&T. We heard the same rumblings before and they turned out to be false so keep the salt handy.

Sounds interesting. ShoutOUT, the first voice-to-SMS application for iPhone users in the U.S., has been introduced today by Promptu Systems Corporation. It allows users dictate their text messages, check and correct messages, and delivered them as text messages or status updates to Twitter or Facebook.

“Today it’s voice-to-SMS; tomorrow will be voice to any text application on the phone,” said Giuseppe Staffaroni, Promptu’s CEO. “Tweets to Twitter, email, Facebook status, calendar events, reminders – our technology is a perfect match. And, because it’s server-based, and 100 percent automated – no humans behind the scenes – it is scalable to millions of users.”

According to the news, ShoutOUT will soon be submitted to the iPhone App Store. The non-English version will also be distributed soon for iPhone users in Europe.
