The good news for iPhone users on T-Mobile is that the carrier is planning to improve the support for iPhones starting on January 30, which is today. The carrier is adding a special iPhone support page, which will help iPhone users that need assistance. Alas, the phones was still be only 2G capable. Last week Samsung saw its second 3G patent suit against Apple rejected by the courts.

The suit in question was in German courts, the judge Andreas Voss rejected Samsung claims without a clear explanation of why. I would imagine Apple doesn’t really care why, it’s just glad the claims are rejected. I doubt this is the last time we hear of lawsuits between Samsung and Apple.

T-Mobile documents have surfaced that claim unlocked iPhones have poor network performance. The document says that only 2G speeds are possible with the iPhone on its network thanks to the lack of WCDMA 1700/2100 bands.

If you are hoping for a Lytro iPhone using light filed technology to come soon, you are out of luck. You can read why this is a long ways off here.

AT&T may not have to pay that rumored $6 billion breakup fee if the merger with T-Mobile fails. Apparently, if T-Mobile loses too much value or if the merger isn’t approved quickly enough AT&T doesn’t have to pay.

T-Mobile is reportedly starting to take pre-orders on the iPhone 5 today. This is despite the fact that we have no idea what the phone will be called, when it will launch, or what the phone will cost. The coupons given don’t specify a name or launch date.

Apple took Amazon to court for trademark infringement when Amazon launched its Appstore. The judge in the case has now said she will probably rule against Apple’s request to force Amazon to ditch the name because there has been no proof of confusion with customers.

A cool accessory for the iPhone turned up called the appBlaster. It is a gun that works with an AR game letting players shoot aliens in their home.

Apple was among the seven tech firms that have been sued by Impreium Holdings. Imperium says that the companies are infringing on a patent it owns that has to do with digital converters and one that has to do with CMOS sensors.

I mentioned briefly yesterday that T-Mobile was already noting that it would not get the iPhone 4. The company will apparently not get the iPhone 5 smartphone either when it launches. I would bet T-Mobile would be absorbed and disappear as Cingular did when AT&T gobbled it up so technically its customers will be able to get the iPhone they will just be AT&T customers at the time.

A guy has used his iPhone 4, iPad, and iMovie to shoot video of a gas main rupture and upload the footage to the web. The footage ended up making it to CNN and MSNBC.

AG Findings has announced that it has new cases for the Verizon iPhone 4 coming. The cases will include the Vandelay and Beatle lines at about $35 each.

The Beta 1 release for iOS 4.3 has surfaced and inside the beta is a spot to turn on multitasking gestures. The new gestures should make for some better navigation for some users.

A rumor making the rounds today claims that T-mobile will get the iPhone 3GS later this year. This rumor makes more sense than the Verizon rumors since AT&T and T-mobile use the same network tech.

Mophie has unveiled the Juice Pack battery case for the iPhone 4. The new version will ship for $79.95 and promises an extra 6 hours of 3G talk time.

An analyst from Kaufman Bros named Shaw Wu reports that the next carrier to get the iPhone will probably be T-Mobile. The iPhone 4 would support the network already if AT&T didn’t have the exclusive.

Microsoft is reportedly paying iPhone game developers with successful applications to port their games to the Windows Phone 7 platform. The games would apparently have to be redone completely since they can’t simply port from the iPhone to WinPo 7.

Rumors are floating around that we are more likely to see the iPhone land on the Sprint network this year than the AT&T network. Sprint should empty its coffers to make this deal a reality the company needs a popular handset.

Apple is reportedly interested in developing its own search engine for the iPhone. The company’s ties with Google the current default search engine, are now strained with Android and the Nexus One.

The rumors of the iPhone hitting another network are typically centered on the device coming to Verizon. Some rumors suggest that before the handset hits Verizon it may land on T-Mobile. The reasoning is that both T-Mobile and Apple have areas like their music services that they aren’t likely to budge on. That means I will be stuck with AT&T is these rumors turn out to be true.

I played the game Mirror’s Edge on both the PS3 and on my PC and it was very cool. EA and DICE are now set to bring the game to the iPhone. Rumor is the game may hit in January and it should be cool.

Although there has been plentiful speculation about O2 losing its iPhone exclusivity over the last few weeks, ME has seen documentation that states it will end officially on October 9th.

However the Cupertino-based company will continue to give O2 exclusivity for iPhone 3GS.

The addition of a new network selling the iPhone will break O2’s UK exclusivity on the coveted handset, and will offer a challenge to O2’s prices and tariffs.

Sources said O2 has been furious with the news and is concerned potential rivals will undercut its prices on the older model.

A new iPhone announcement has been tipped to take place on June 8th, at the WWDC 2009 keynote in San Francisco.  Among the expected changes are more storage capacity, as hinted at by this listing, plus a faster processor and a higher-resolution camera (3.2-megapixels compared to 2-megapixels on the iPhone 3G).  More battery life has also been suggested, perhaps as a side-product of Apple switching to an OLED touchscreen.

At the beginning of the week, we found out that the home activation available for the first-generation iPhone would be reinstated, at least in part, for iPhone 3G purchases. And then, we got the details of the new purchasing system Apple has put in place so you can buy the iPhone 3G from your home, input all of your information and simply go to your local Apple retail store to pick it up and have it activated.

We also learned that the iPhone 3G could reach sales of 5 million in Q4, which is exciting news. And an unlocked version of the phone is now available in Hong Kong, though at a significantly higher price than if purchased through a carrier. To continue Apple’s plan for rolling out the iPhone 3G across the world, Russia will be getting the device on October 3rd.

iPhone Firmware version 2.2 entered Beta 1 for developers only this week and while details were a bit sketchy at first, we eventually learned that MobileSafari would be getting a bit of a facelift. App Store rejections letters are also apparently under the NDA developers sign to upload their apps to the store. Whether this was also a stipulation or a recent addendum in response to the frequent posting of these letters on online forums is unknown.

And last but not least we had a comparison of the iPhone 3G and the recently announced T-Mobile G1. Even though I would have loved to pick a clear cut winner, I found the playing field uneven, especially when you consider that Apple is bringing their own hardware and software to the table and the T-Mobile G1 features hardware and software from different makers.
