T-Mobile documents have surfaced that claim unlocked iPhones have poor network performance. The document says that only 2G speeds are possible with the iPhone on its network thanks to the lack of WCDMA 1700/2100 bands.

If you have dropped your iPhone, cracked the back glass, and want to fix it with something that might last longer, one of these wooden back kits might be just what you need. The kit will fit the iPhone 4 and 4S and you can see how to install here.

Apple’s CEO has admitted that it planned poorly for the iPhone 4S launch in China. The demand and short supply is said to be what sparked near riots in China. There have been shortages in other countries that haven’t led to egg throwing and abused Apple workers so I hardly think this is at Apple’s feet alone.

Apple offered up its Q1 2012 financial figures yesterday and sales for the company were gigantic. The company posted $24 billion in revenue for the iPhone and related products and services.

The official price for the smartphone in the other countries is unknown at this time. Apple is optimistic about selling the smartphone in China, it is a huge market.

A new exploit has surfaced that reopens the loophole that Apple closed not long ago that allows the remote unlocking of iOS devices using Jailbreakme.com. The exploit is called SHAtter and will let the iPhone 4 user get iOS updates and keep carrier unlocks in place.

The rumors have been swirling about the iPhone coming to Verizon for a long time. The latest rumors have spawned concern that Verizon might not accept Apple’s contract terms in order to preserve its Android market.

iPhone fans in the UAE can get the smartphone soon, but they will not be able to get FaceTime. The feature will not be supported when the device launches in the UAE and possibly in some other Middle East locations.

June 19th can only mean one thing: it’s iPhone 3G S day. We’ve been in New York City this morning to check out the queues and crowds outside Apple’s 5th Avenue flagship store.

The lines may be less impressive than in previous years, but we’ve a feeling that’s down to many people pre-ordering for home delivery. Apple changed their tactics for 2009, switching back to allowing individual iTunes activation at home rather than demanding buyers stop by an Apple or AT&T store.

Later on this morning we’ll be meeting with an Apple VP to discuss the launch and talk about what makes the iPhone 3G S special. Plus we’ll have our own hands-on first impressions with the smartphone, together with live photos and video. Keep reading iPhone Buzz!

It looks like those in Taiwan who went out and picked up the iPhone 3G this weekend after the launch Saturday will be able to use just about any SIM they wish. Initial reports said that Chunghwa Telecom would be selling the iPhone 3G SIM-locked to their network.

Many users have found that as in other countries, there are no limitations in place for these iPhones. Whether or not this is an error in the firmware or not has yet to be determined. If it is indeed an error, Apple will fix it in a future update, but until then customers have the choice when it comes to a carrier. The only missing feature is with other SIM cards is CHT’s network-specific web services, which cannot be accessed with another carrier’s SIM.

CHT s currently selling the iPhone 3G without a contract at NT$26,600 (US$800) for the 8GB version and NT$29,900 ($901) for the 16GB version. There are discounts for those who sign a two-year agreement. CHT requires a refundable deposit of up to NT$24,000. If you add up the costs you would pay over two years with a locked AT&T iPhone 3G, it is more expensive than you would pay for the unlocked CHT version.

Gartner analyzed the numbers for smartphone sales and it looks like the iPhone 3G played a big role in bolstering the market. And even though hard economic times make smartphone purchases difficult for many consumers, the devices are rising in popularity.

32.2 million smartphones were sold in Q2 this year, which is up 15.7% from the previous year. However, the third quarter showed great promise as well. This was primarily due to the introduction of the iPhone 3G in July. It boosted sales of smartphones so that 11% of mobile phone sales could be attributed to smartphones.

This is significant. Especially when you factor in the smartphone market growth in America alone. Smartphone sales grew 78.7% this year, which adds up to about 25% of smartphone sales in the world! And it seems like the iPhone 3G takes a large chunk of that pie.
