Walt Mossberg has been playing around with the Samsung Instinct for Sprint for a while now, and has something to say about the device. That is, it is no iPhone. According to Walt, the device is nice, but it is lacking in some areas that he really would have liked the device to excel in. According to him, the interface is just not pretty enough.

Sprint is making good on their promise to spend $100 million to promote their new iPhone competitor, the Samsung Instinct. The advertisements start running on May 9th, but the commercials are now available to view on YouTube. The advertisements very obviously take aim at the iPhone, with some shots showing the two devices side by side.

The Samsung F700, now known as the Croix, thanks to a deal with Vodafone is quite the amazing device. It is purported to be targeted as an iPhone competitor, even though the Croix is everything the iPhone isn’t. Some reports have pegged Apple's products as the biggest consumer of modern flash memory production, leaving scant pickings for the competition. Now, the supply could be even shorter thanks to a power-outage hitting six of Samsung's key NAND production lines, forcing them to shut down. Samsung produce the memory chips used in both the iPhone and iPod lines.
