iPhones are thin in the grand scheme of things and you can only pack so much punch into the battery life. If compared to a human, an iPhone is that skinny it needs a good home-cooked meal.

Despite the economic downturn, Apple is still doing pretty well for itself. Their Q4 earnings call today revealed that the company sold about 6.9 million iPhones. Want a bit of a comparison? Apple only sold 1.1 million iPhones in Q4 of 2007. That's a substantial increase.

The iPhone 3G has been selling like hot cakes and it seems like it will sell even more in Q4. In fact, it is now estimated that Apple will be shipping 5 million units for Q4, which ends on September 30th.

In case you ever wondered how iPhone 3G sales have been distributed across the globe, a recent study conducted by Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research shows just where the first million went.

Apparently in China they have gotten fed up with waiting around on Apple to finally release the iPhone to them. After the iPhones leave the Chinese factory and get shipped off smugglers are snagging them and bringing them right back to China.
