MasterCard is working to put its NFC payment tech inside the iCarte accessory for the iPhone. The accessory will allow for contactless mobile payments using the iPhone.

Rhapsody has objected to the new subscription rules that Apple has instigated. Rhapsody says that it might even take legal action against the rules that say subscription providers have to fork over 30% of their revenue.

Gawker head Nick Denton figures the whole thing cost him about $20,000 for the handset, bonuses, and bandwidth. The money made from the exclusive is estimated to be $200,000.

Rhapsody has been on the iPhone for a while now and the service has gained an important new feature. Users can now take advantage of an offline listening mode that caches music and lets you listen without an internet connection.

The Apple employee who lost the infamous iPhone HD prototype in a bar has been offered a free German holiday. The offer comes from Lufthansa airlines and if I were My. Powell I’d want to be sure Steve Jobs wasn’t sending him over on a one way ticket.

Word has come from SXSW that the Rhapsody app for iPhone is set for an update. The app will get caching this time around so users can listen without needing that wireless connection.

PayPal has unveiled a new app for sending money using the iPhone. The app is version 2.0 of PayPal Send Money and allows access to money and features of their accounts.

If you have junk radio stations in your area like I do, the only option other than waking to a buzzer is waking to your iPod. If you have more than one iPhone or iPod a dual dock alarm clock like the new iLuv iMM183 revealed today may be just the ticket for you. The thing can charge and play tunes from two docks that both support the iPhone.

MacNewsWorld has posted up a piece on what exactly the iPhone needs to keep Android at bay. The short answer is nothing more than a new carrier. The device needs to get away from the exclusive AT&T deal but with AT&T counting on the device for lots of new customers that will be a hard fought thing. Apple is undoubtedly losing customers due to the exclusive deal with AT&T.

When Rhapsody unveiled its new iPhone app the music service expected a glut of new customers to come its way. It appears that has failed to happen and while the app wasn’t available for the full quarter, Rhapsody reports that its subscriber numbers have declined since the app was introduced. It seems customers are going to other services.

Long before my iPhone debuted on the market, I was using players other than the iPod because I really liked the Rhapsody music service. I liked to be able to listen to lots of music without worrying that I will buy something I don’t like and waste my money.

When I started using the iPhone, I eventually left Rhapsody behind because the service wasn’t compatible with the iPhone. That has all changed today with the Rhapsody service now officially available on the iPhone.

The Rhapsody app is now on the App Store at a charge of $15 per month. The app allows you to stream all the music you want from Rhapsody to your device. The good news is that the music can stream via Wi-Fi or 3G connectivity. The catch is that apparently the music can’t stream over Edge so in rural areas the app may not be that great.
