The Google Search App for iPhone was launched this week. The new app is faster and has a new look as well as updates to all sorts of Google services like Voice Search and Goggles.

SlashGear put up a review of the iPhone app Qik Video Connect Plus this week. The app allows you to connect with friends using video and lots more, SlashGear though the app was worth the price.

A rumor has Verizon paying Apple to be the only other carrier next to AT&T.

A really cool wind charger for the iPhone has surfaced that harnesses the wind to create juice for your smartphone. I will say the wind generator has to be the ugliest case I have ever seen, but it’s cool in a major geek kind of way.

The gang over at ZDNet have posted up a review of the Dexim Super-Juice Power Case for the iPhone 4. The reviewer liked the case and said it significantly extended the battery life.

Love does not mean you have to like the same kind of music. The dual-dock iLuv iMM173 is an alarm clock outfitted with two iPod docks, one working with your iPhone.

The black, shiny plastic iMM173, which measures 3.4 by 11.2 by 7.2 inches (HWD), has a rounded, contoured casing, with stereo speakers separated by the 4.2-inch LCD. Listed at $149.99 the clock includes a magnetic remote-control holder on the back panel, FM antenna, headphone jack, AC input and a 3.5mm aux input. A switch labeled DST automatically adjusts the clock an hour ahead or behind for Daylight Saving Time.

The iMM173 works with the iPhone however only on the right-hand dock. It has been noted that on the first occasion of docking your iPhone a warning may appear. The device may state that it is not an iPhone-compatible accessory and you need to enter Airplane Mode to disable the phone functions. Subsequent docking will see the warning disappear with no need to worry about receiving calls. The clock offers 4 sources to setting your alarm through either the iPod(s), iPhone, FM or buzzer. Waking up just got more technical.

Very often we find that our iPhone batteries do not last an entire day, calling for multiple charges in some cases. The iPWR backup battery by Eznex is the perfect solution to this battery problem. Apple’s decision to not include a removable battery on any of their iPhone and iPod products has developed into a need for such a product. The iPWR is a very portable battery backup that is compatible with the iPhone 3G/2G as well as the iPod Touch, Nano, Classic, Shuffle, etc.

Charging your Apple device is easy, just turn on the battery and plug it in. The iPWR has a few features that other backup batteries do not have. Other backup batteries require you to take off protective cases in order to use them but with the iPWR, you can use it without removing the case. The battery can be charged by micro USB rather than requiring an iPod USB cable. This battery is far more portable and attractive looking than any other we have seen.

We recommend this product to anyone looking for improved battery life. iPWR is perfect for those who are always on the go and need the extra battery life but do not have a chance to plug their device in for a few hours. Other competitors batteries have capacities of 1200mAh (Richardsolo) or 1000mAh (Kensington). Although the capacity of the iPWR is only 50% more than RichardSolo and 80% more than Kensington, power delivered is much more efficient. Compare below the real power delivered to iPhone 3G or original iPhone with the iPWR and its competitors.

1 iPWR battery = 2 Richardsolo batteries
1 iPWR battery = 2.7 Kensington batteries

The iPWR is certified to meet Apple performance standards with a capacity of 1800mAh and output of 5.0V. This product is imprinted with “Works with iPhone” and “Made for iPod”. This is the smallest iPhone backup battery with the highest charge capacity that you will find on the market today. An interesting fact about the backup battery is that, unlike other products, it uses true-shutdown circuits that enable it to hold a charge for several months to a year without use. Currently the iPWR is only available in black but white will be available in the future.

Over at SlashGear, Vincent has just reviewed the BlueAnt V1 Voice Control Bluetooth Headset and it may be the high-end bluetooth headset of choice for those looking for a little something more out of their talk-time experience.

Equipped with a new technology called BlueGenie, this headset can be activated via voice commands. And keywords aren’t even necessary. you can just speak normally and get the device to do what you want. One example of such a command is “check battery” which will cause the V1 to tell you how much charge is left.

And to get down to the specs, this BlueAnt model measures in at 41 x 17.5 x 11.2mm, has a Li-Ion battery that can last for 5hrs of talk time or up to 200 hrs in standby mode, a multifunction button that also acts as the voice command trigger, a MicroUSB socket and Bluetooth v2.1 support.

All in all, the BlueAnt V1 is a good buy and is rather accurate in its receptiveness to voice commands. However, it doesn’t fit quite as well as the Jawbone 2 and its audio isn’t as good as some other headsets on the market. Even so, for $129.99, the BlueAnt V1 wins out for its top-notch voice command abilities.

One thing I really like about Sudoku is how it manages to work my brain while still being fun. So when I came across Sudoku Unlimited, I had to give it a try. What’s $2.99, right?

I think what I like best about Sudoku Unlimited is how simple it is. Not the game, mind you. Sudoku can be very difficult. But the layout of the application is simple and easy to understand. You’re provided with just enough options to give you some control over the game but not so many it overwhelms you.

For instance, when working on a puzzle, you can make notes in each of the open boxes for numbers that you think might fit there, just like you would on a piece of paper. Also, there are five different settings that provide you with beginner-level ease to you-have-to-be-nuts difficulty. Plus, you can change the way the board looks with three different skins.

If you’re brand new to the game, you can select the “Auto-fill” function which automatically enters in all the possible numbers that can go in the open boxes via the Notes function. This is a great way to get familiar with the game. You can also “Clear Notes” and get a Hint if you’re stuck.

I enjoyed this Sudoku game. And while there are several other games like this on the App Store–some of which are free–this one brings a sense of completeness to the plate. If you like Sudoku, this one’s worth the few bucks.

Today I’ve spent some time playing Labyrinth Lite Edition. I’m sure that most of you had, or at least have seen an old Labyrinth game. Basically what you had was two wooden boxes inside of another box. The inner boxes were each controlled by a different set of knobs, which you would use to tilt the innermost box. You would then have a marble set in a maze, and using the knobs you would steer the marble through the maze while trying to avoid the holes. This iPhone version is much the same, but instead of boxes and knobs, you simply tilt the iPhone to navigate the maze.

This is definitely worth the download, as it really is fun to play. My only real complaint is that there weren’t enough levels. The marble is surprisingly responsive to your movements, and adjusts in speed depending on how sharply you tilt the phone. The app takes up a measly 0.6MB of space and can be downloaded for free. Of course if you want more levels, then download the full version, and you’ll have access to over 500 levels. Now that will keep you entertained for quite some time The full version will run you $6.99.

Another game that I’ve had since launch is Spinner Prologue. This is another game that is played using only the accelerometer. Essentially this is simply a set of mazes that you must navigate your way through. However, rather than controlling the arrow, it moves in a single direction and you must rotate the maze in order to lead it to the end.

This game can be very frustrating at times, as it is not the easiest of titles. See, you don’t just have to navigate to the end of the maze, but you also can’t touch the walls. As the levels progress, you must navigate through tighter turns and more narrow areas. I’ve only made it to level 11 so far, but I’m determined to beat the game.

A couple things to note when playing this game. First, you need to start ever level by holding your phone vertically. Second, under no circumstances should you ever double-tap your screen. I’m not sure whether this is intended or a bug (I’m going to go with bug) but doing so will take you back to the very first level.

Spinner Prolouge takes up just 0.6MB of space, and is free. There are only a few levels, however, there will be a paid version of the game later which will have more to play.

One of my favorite games that I’ve played since I picked up the iPhone has got to be Cube Runner. It is a very simple game in which you use the accelerometer to control a ship and navigate through a series of blocks.

There’s really very little to this addictive game. One thing I will note is that when you start up the game, definitely tap on the little “i” in the bottom right corner. This will flip the game into horizontal mode, which makes the game a lot more fun to play.

There are three levels of difficulty, and with ever-changing levels there is enough replayability to keep you entertained for some time. Cube Runner is only going to take up 0.1MB of storage space and is free.

Chess is one of those games that I really enjoy playing. No, I never joined the Chess Club in high school (I may be a geek, but I have my dignity), but I do enjoy a good game every now and then. Of course, I enjoy playing with real people, rather than a computer. I think the last chess game that I purchased was Chessmaster for the NES. That game kicked my ass every single time, and I’ve stuck to a real chess board ever since. However, I decided to pick up Chess Classics for my iPhone, as I never seem to have time to sit down with anyone for a game.

As expected, the computer thoroughly dominated each and every game I played. But not to worry, Chess Classics provides several different modes of play, which includes a two-player mode, if you happen to be sitting next to someone on a plane or bus that wants to play. You can also watch some classic chess matches in which the game walks you through each move, and why it was made. It’s actually quite interesting to watch some of those game, though if you’re not big into chess, they can seem a bit dull.

My favorite function in the game is Quiz Mode. You are given a set of 10 challenges that you must solve. You are given points based on how quickly you solve each puzzle. For instance, you are given a chess board with pre-arranged pieces and you must move a white piece so that it is safe from harm. They’re actually pretty tough, and really make you think about your moves.

One thing that I will point out about this game is that since the screen isn’t huge, your pieces are rather tiny. This makes pointing at the correct piece a bit difficult. It’s not horrible, but can be frustrating at times.

Something that isn’t mentioned in the iTunes App Store is that you also get a Backgammon game with your purchase. I found it extremely difficult to move the pieces in this game, but then again I really didn’t expect it to be there in the first place.

Chess Classics is going to take up 76.4MB of space on your iPhone, and will set you back $9.99.

I’ve not really ever been one of those people that gets addicted to online Flash games. Generally when I’m in front of my PC I tend to play bigger games. Thus I never really played games like Bejeweled. However, if you’ve ever gotten addicted to those sorts of games, you’ll love Diamond Twister.

I’ve officially lost almost an hour or so playing this game. It has a fun little plot about stealing precious gems which takes you to 8 different cities around the world. Each city features 8 levels in which you swap gems to create rows of three or more of the same type. You get a variety of bonuses for getting four in a row, or several combos in a row. You have a target goal that you must reach before the time limit is up. The goal is in the form of a cash value, that correlates with the number of rows you have completed.

The game is pretty straightforward, and is highly addictive. When you fail to complete a level in time, you may simply restart it without any penalty. Of course you’ll generally get some sort of snide comment from your “boss” about how he shouldn’t have trusted you. One cool feature is that you can rotate your iPhone, and the direction that the jewels drop will change.

As you complete the levels you will occasionally unlock a new mode of play. These lend to the replay value of the game, which is fun for just a few minutes, or to lose yourself in for a long time. Diamond Twister takes up 46.1MB, and costs $4.99.

If you don’t know what VNC client is, here is a little explanation – it is a tool to let you connect to VNC server installed on your Windows PC or Mac OS X. MochaSoft VNC Lite provides VNC client for your iPhone. As the name said, Lite is what it truly meant when it comes to set of features. The Lite version cost nothing but it has many limitations such as single keyboard only, no right mouse click support, and no macro capability.

You will be able to get all those missing function from the paid version. It cost $5.99 and offers macro support. Both versions (the Lite and Full) are able to zoom and scroll, runs on 8-but and 32-bit color, local mouse, and landscape mode.

The application itself is pretty intuitive – to start you will need to create a session by tapping the connection button on the navigation. If you don’t have a previous session, the session dialog will prompt you to enter the host information.

Once you are connected to your VNC server, you will see several icons, starting from the left side, the QWERTY, F1-F2 keys, menu, mouse click, and scroll. Do not expect real time and snappiness of a true desktop, VNC client are made to work with remote system therefore connections speed matters.
