AT&T is finally offering refurbished iPhone 3G models on their site. Though the prices are lower, it is still only a $50 savings for a phone that was bought, used, broken and then returned. Is all that worth saving $50 in these tough economic times?

“previously owned devices that have been unused or lightly used and returned during the 30-day trial period. Each refurbished phone is independently quality tested and loaded with the latest software to meet current factory standards. Some refurbished iPhone 3G devices will have minor scratches.”

Let me do the math for you, for the 8GB black version you will be shelling out $149 with a two year agreement and for the black or white 16GB version you will have to come up with $250. Man just saying that makes me wonder why people would shell out $150 for a low-end phone. Can the price of the iPhone 3G be beat by any device that even comes close? Go ahead and order your loved ones and iPhone 3G for Christmas with overnight shipping.

The 8GB iPhone is available on AT&T’s website for only $249. I’m sure that at this price, they’ll go like hot cakes. Don’t think that AT&T will let you hog a ton of them to yourself – because there’s a limit of one per customer. You can even buy the Apple $69 Apple Care program, which provides repair service coverage for two years from the warranty start date.
