Sure, it is just something some Apple fan boy came up with, but I doubt him or the other members of the Factory Joe blog are too far off. Chances are real good that we actually can expect something of this nature soon.

They even supposition the idea of up to a 64GB SSD, sure, that sounds great, but right now that would push this device into the same price range as the larger MacBook Pro’s maybe even higher. Personally I think a device with about half that storage, but a larger multi-touch screen, a faster processor and some dedicated system RAM as well as more ports and a fuller version of OS X would be great.

It wouldn’t have to be a full on tablet, just something closer to an actual Mac with a more fully featured OS would be great. Regardless of what I think, I regard Apple as the knowledgeable authority on multi-touch technology and great mobile design, so I trust that when the time comes they will make their tablet the best that it can be.

Could it be another go at the Newton? Could it be My iTablet? Or could it be a MacBook Touch? Maybe an Apple UMPC?

Right now no one knows for sure, what is known is that there are reports of a touchscreen device that is larger than the iPhone with a bigger, better, multi-touch touchscreen. What is also known is that the engineers from this project have on occasion taken time off from this project to work on the iPhone, which means to some extent, they are interchangeable. It could be an Apple UMPC, wouldn’t that be great.

The reports say that the device is only about one and a half times the size of the iPhone, so a new Newton sounds like the most probably this time. However this does also show that Apple is willing to spread their highly successful multi-touch technology around. That combined with some patents we have seen for reducing the space required for some things coming out of Cupertino, means that the other two, an iTablet and a MacBook Touch, aren’t completely out of the question. I know I am keeping my fingers crossed, I just don’t see a market for a PDA, especially when they have the iPhone, but I would definitely buy an iTablet or MacBook Touch.Rumor: Apple Newton making a comeback? [via SlashGear]

Could the next iPhone or the latest iteration of the iPod have this technology implemented into it? If Apple were to implement a multi-touch LCD like this into their devices the applications would be nearly endless.

Just imagine being able to use multiple gestures at a time to edit videos and photos you just took with your iPhone. Another possible use would be in the music industry, making and producing beats right on your iPod or iPhone.

The best part about this display is that they have dropped the film that formerly covered multi-touch touchscreens, instead each individual pixel has a sensor below it. The display can also be used as a scanner, so you could scan business cards into your iPhone or books for class, or even newspaper articles.

So the best part, this multi-touch LCD is already the same size as the one in the iPhone. That’s right, 3.5” with a 320×480 resolution and as thin as 1mm with the latest technology. Even better yet, I know, you didn’t think it got much better, but it does, the technology can be expanded up to 12.1 inches, can you say My iTablet?

If memory serves me, the last time they had such a meeting Steve Jobs ended up giving away free iPhones to most Apple employees. So what’s in store for the big meeting tomorrow? We don’t know yet, but our man Vincent Nguyen is going to be at the show reporting live.

Here’s the deal, the Town Hall meeting starts tomorrow at 10AM PST, head over to http://www.myitablet.com/live/ and you’ll be given up-to-the-minute details from the show. This is similar to what we did back at Macworld.

There have been many rumors lately concerning this show. What do you think they’ll announce? A new iMac, .Mac updates, or perhaps the iTablet we’ve all been hoping for? Check back tomorrow for all the details.

I think our man Vincent might have lost it this time. It’s finally summertime here in the states, which means nice warm weather. So what does he do? He decides to take a trip to Alaska.

His trip isn’t without a noble cause, so maybe he’s not that crazy. See, AT&T has wireless service in the state of Alaska, but they’ve decided not to sell the iPhone there. We’re still a bit baffled as to why Alaska would get the cold shoulder from AT&T.

Anyway, Vincent has decided to pay a visit to the only state that does not currently sell the iPhone, and spread some joy to the land. He’ll be interviewing people at the local Apple store to get their thoughts on the matter. Stay tuned for our special report from Alaska.
