I’m convinced that the Apple iPhone is the first piece of the puzzle to Apple’s master plan to rule the world of mobility. Apple’s offering already include Apple TV for your living room, Mac Pro, Macbook Pro, Macbook, iPods and now the Apple iPhone. The only market that Apple’s not in is the UMPC. Worry not my fellow Apple fans, because it’s only a matter of time.

Looking over the iPhone’s BoM, it’s got the hardware for a MacPad in the making. Like the iPhone, the MacPad will also sport OS X. However, Jason of Gizmodo believes that Apple will not enter the UMPC market because it’s too new and not many people are aware of UMPCs yet. Jason goes on to say that Apple enters markets others have already developed and refine current products. What do you think about this?

A new tablet, called ModBook, will be released by Other World Computing and the new company start-up Axiotron. It will sport Mac OS X, and use pen technology from WACOM (specifically a WACOM pen will be included). The tablet will also take advantage of the InkWell technology in OS X. InkWell is the advanced technology from Apple that allows you to use (among other) WACOM tablets. Many people think that InkWell was, and still is, for an upcoming tablet product released by Apple.

This product isn’t just a third-party wannabe tablet mac; It goes beyond that. A GPS Navigational system is also included, called the SiRFstar 3.
Other Word Computing is known for their sales and support of Mac products, along with a vast amount of hard drives, optical drives, memory, and iPod accessories. Axiotron, on the other hand, has no track record, so it will be interesting to see how this team-up with the companies will go.

aMobileMe will be at MacWorld to bring you exciting news on the coolest third-party Mac Tablet to date!

I’ll eat my shoe if Apple delivers anything remotely similar to the MacPad.

“Part iPod, part Mac, part Tablet (Newton for you old timers) now part of your digital life…” Amen to that. “Sketch your ideas. Lets you do things you do on a Mac. 7″ glossy Widscreen touchscreen. Full onscreen virtual keyboard and scroll wheel. Wireless Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. 80GB and 120GB versions.”

The technology exists for Apple to produce this product. However, are consumers ready for it? Would you still buy it even though it’s missing a QWERTY keyboard? What if it’s three times the size of the existing video iPod? Would that be too big to carry around?

The answer is yes, I don’t care and no.
