Samsung has admitted that it has an informal policy of not suing Apple. That sounds strange considering all the suits between the two companies right now.

Developers have reportedly cracked Siri to run on any device. Siri will reportedly work to some degree on the iPhone 4 and 3GS devices and the latest is a hack claiming to port Siri to Android.

If you are using an iPhone in iOS 5 and you prefer the looks and style of the Android autocorrect bar, you have a very similar autocorrect bar hidden inside your phone. To activate it you need to grab the iBackupBot app and back your device up to iTunes. Then using the software open it back up.

Once that backup is open you can open a specific files and then paste in a new sting of code and end up with the bar you see in the photo here. Check out this link to get the full details on making the switch. It turns out the proximity sensor in the iPhone 4S is specifically made to work with Siri.

This is supposedly the reason that the Siri voice assistance is restricted to the 4S smartphone alone. The new sensor is an infrared LED made just for Siri. This is how Siri knows when you are there and the sensor is active all the time.

A new keyboard called the iTwinge had been unveiled for the iPhone that is similar to the Blackberry keyboard. The iTwinge will cost you $30 and is sort of like a half sleeve with a keyboard built in.

The big downside is that the keyboard blocks about 40% of the iPhone screen, which would make navigation difficulty. The company behind the product claims that typing speed can be increased by up to 40% and errors reduced by up to 80%. The iTwinge is set to ship on November 17.

For a certain need, I think this “mainstream approach” keyboard for the iPhone or iPod Touch is helpful. “If you want to get a bit more typing done with a bit less cluttter, you’ll no doubt be quite a bit more impressed,” as Engadget wrote.

How it works?

The keyboard (it’s a standard Freedom Universal Keyboard) uses the Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port) profile to talk with a Robotech Bluetooth module ( www.tigal.com/product.asp?pid=1124 ). This module is placed in a modified iphone battery sleeve and connected to the iphone serial port. The jailbroken iphone runs veency (a VNC server) and a tiny libvncclient based VNC client for keyboard event injection to whatever application you use.

Someone asked: What will this do if I highlight something and push CTRL + C and then CTRL + V? LOL

Seems it’s very useful additions to the iPhone’s on screen keyboard. But MacRumors says that Westerman multi-touch patent applications “always seem to be more ambitious than practical”.

For example, erasing and basic punctuation insertion, directional swipes (also referred to herein as “swipe gestures”) over the alphabetic keys can be used as an alternative to striking certain keys. Because the Space and Backspace keys are quite frequently used, they are logical candidates for the rightward and leftward swipes, respectively. Leftward and rightward swipes intuitively match the cursor travel caused by these symbols. Following this cursor movement analogy, the Enter/Return may be invoked by a downward swipe, and a Shift/Caps may be invoked by an upward swipe. Alternatively, as the Enter and Shift functions may be less frequently invoked, these may be substituted for other functions as well. One alternative mapping for the upward swipe, for example, could be to activate an alternative numeric and punctuation keypad or a particular punctuation symbol like an apostrophe or period.
