iheartradio keeps pumping up

Clear Channel Radio announced that iPhone application, iheartradio just keeps getting downloaded. Streaming through iheartmusic, the app is seeing listener growth of 13 percent a week, every week since launching.

The iPhone application has been downloaded more than one millions times. The increase in listeners via the iPhone sees the Clear Channel Radio listener base increasing in total by 15%. If there is a style of music you like, they have it all – Country AND Western.

Through the iPhone, iheartradio works through iheartmusic. iheartmusic streams content from 150 U.S. radio stations at 65Kbps using the AAC audio codec. It is now a top 100 free iPhone app and the number four free music application. On the horizon too, the Company has announced the release of iheartradio for BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, and Bold models.

Sirius XM streaming the tunes

As a Car Company, Sirius XM may have had a bad year revenue wise. Nevertheless, the Radio side to the organisation is looking forward to releasing a music streaming application in the second quarter of 09.

During a conference call that discussing the forth quarter loss of more than $245 million, Sirius XM executives CFO David Frear, CEO Mel Karmazin and operations and sales chief Jim Meyer all made references to the upcoming iPhone application. The app will stream music through the Sirius Xm’s satellite radio service over WiFi or cellular data networks.

The app too has sparked thoughts that Sirius XM might be looking towards an Internet based radio service. At this point, the cost of, availability, time frame and access to the app is not clear. Again, thoughts lean towards the service being bundled in with subscriptions. My decision will all depend on whether the tunes are any good…

Slacker Mobile brings streaming music to the iPhone once again

Slacker Radio for the iPhone has officially been released into the App Store. For those of you who have not heard of Slacker before, it is very similar to Pandora, but has its own strengths, offering free music libraries featuring millions of songs.

Slacker Radio offers its users high quality stereo music playback from any wireless connection weather your at home using Wi-Fi or on the go with only an Edge connection. There are over 100 professionally programmed stations by genre; you can even create custom artist stations and fine-tune them to play more of the music you like.

Slacker Radio even allows you to view artist biographies and photos as well as album art and reviews. Unlike Pandora you can “Peek Ahead” with an artist and album preview. Music controls like pause and skip make listening to music a lot easier than with other programs. You can head over to the App Store right now and download Slacker Mobile for free. The iPhone gets attachable breathalyzer

For those of us who are always out enjoying the nightlife including the drinks that come along with it, there is now a breathalyzer attachment for the iPhone that tells you if your in the right condition for driving if your not too drunk to give yourself the breathalyzer. This attachment may also be a fun party toy as well.

There have been a million odd accessories ranging from pants and pillows to heart rate monitors, but for some reason we just find this one too funny. Not only can this device tell you what you blood alcohol level is but it will also transmit your music with the built-in FM transmitter.

This is just a completely useless accessory that seems to be made for a quick laugh. You can purchase a regular Breathalyzer for less than this thing costs, but if you really need the two in one by all means get one of these. We are still curious as to how well this works.

Last.fm v2.0 Leaked Video

Video of the Last.fm v2.0 app has been leaked and we’re now getting a sneak peek at what it holds in store. It appears you can listen to music based on tags you type in, whether that be an artist’s name, a style of music or even “Apple ad” as shown in the video included after the jump.

You can also tag music, create playlists, send it to your friends and even find out more about the artists you’re listening to. When listening to an artist, you can also choose from similar music and view touring schedules. You can even add a concert date to your calendar. Pretty cool stuff.

Sections for Top Artists, Top Albums and more are also available. You can also view your friend’s playlists and favorite songs.

Quickie Review: AOL Radio

With all of these new apps, I can definitely see how it would be a possibly to eventually max out your iPhone’s space, especially if you’re using the first-gen iPhone. But luckily there is AOL Radio, which pretty much makes it so you can listen to any radio station across the US, plus a great grouping of online stations.

I’m telling you, people, I am seriously considering removing most of my iTunes library from the phone and just using these radio stations. Well, maybe not quite. But they are that good quality. It works like this: open AOL Radio–it’s free, by the way–and you’ll be asked if the app can use your current location. Select “Allow.” Then, a list of all the radio stations in your area will appear. You can select one and it will start playing live for you. You can also check in on what stations are playing all the way across the country.

There are online radio stations to select from as well, so you can really key in on the genre you want to hear at the moment. Plus, there’s a list of your recent stations and stations you’ve favorited.

My only complaint is that you can’t do anything else on your iPhone while listening. All in all, great app to have!
