The Word editor Quickword adds auto-correct, auto-capitalization, find text, adjusting indentation level of bulleted lists and paragraphs, and double tapping space bar to enter a period. Quickoffice Files enables users to enjoy slideshow viewing of images in remote and local directories and the ability to bookmark last viewed position in documents.

SplashPhoto enables users to organize image collections and synchronize with free SplashPhoto Desktop on Mac and Windows, while SplashNotes gives users the ability to create outlines, attach notes and photos. The desktop version of SplashNotes is not free: you should purchase it for $9.95  at SplashData website.

SplashPhoto and SplashNotes are available for $4.99 each from iPhone’s App Store.

The Compete survey showed that the kinds of apps downloaded most aren’t necessarily the ones used most often. Games and entertainment were the most popular categories of downloads cited by iPhone users, at 79% and 78%, respectively. Weather apps were third at 57%.

Data released by comScore last week showed that Tapulous’ “Tap Tap Revenge” music game has been the most downloaded iPhone app to date, with one in three users jamming with it.

Like Kindle, Shortcovers will let you read the first chapter of any book free of charge. From there, the app offers you two options: You can either buy a chapter at a time, or opt to purchase the whole book. Single chapters are expected to cost around 99 cents a pop, while full books will range between $10 and $20, on average. If you decide you want to get a book physically shipped, you can do that, too.

The application is expected to be offered on Apple’s iTunes online App Store soon.
