If you, like many, are sick of the look of the felt marker look in the iPhone Notes app, you can switch it out for something less bulky. And the best part is, the tools to complete this changeover are included in your iPhone already. No hacking required!

Step 1: Go into your iPhone’s Settings>General>Keyboard.

Step 2: Go into International Keyboards

Step 3: Select Chinese, then pick either one of the Chinese keyboards.

Step 4: Activate Pinyin.

Step 5: Press the Home button, then open the Notes app.

Step 6: When you go to type, you should see a world key. Tap it and the keyboard will change to the Chinese one. Press one letter to see the font has changed.

Step 7: Press the world key again and the keyboard will switch back to English. Now, this note will be typed on the less bold font.

You’ll need to press the world key for each new note you make, but it’s worth it if you’re sick of looking at that felt-tipped font.

Apple have been especially strict with programmers who want to release ‘beta’ software to iPhone and iPod Touch users; right now, the company will reject submissions with ‘beta’ or ‘test’ style descriptions. However developers must have a way to send out beta or review copies of their apps to beta testers and reviewers. Up until now, the only way to get apps into the hands of testers and reviewers is through iTunes, and that has led to critical reviews as beta software is presumed to be the finished product. Enter Ad Hoc Helper.

Ad Hoc Helper lets you email a copy of your iPhone or iPod’s UDID (unique device identifier) to developers so they can add you to their Ad Hoc distribution profiles. This lets them create a special version of their apps that can be sent to you outside of the normal AppStore channels.

Ad Hoc Helper will automatically generate an email, and embed a 40-character identifier in the email. All you need to do is send it to the developers.

Developers can then embed the identifier inside the apps they send you. These apps will only work with your iPhone, iPhone 3G or iPod touch. You should receive two files: an .app and the .mobileprovision file. Copy them into itunes, and sync your iPhone to install. That’s it!

How to step-by-step:

1) On your iPhone, open the App Store, go to the ‘Utilities’ category and download the program ‘UDID(Ad Hoc Helper)’. If you like you can search for the app – it might be quicker than scrolling through the whole list.
2) Run the program. It will automatically compose an email message, with your device identifier. Send the email to the developers.
3) Drag both the .app file and the .mobileprovision file into iTunes on your PC or Mac and sync your iPhone to install.

With the new iPhone 2.0 update, new features are tucked away all over the place. But one that I really enjoy is the screenshot capability. Now you can take a picture of what’s on your iPhone’s screen at any given moment, just as you would on your computer. Pretty neat, huh?

iPhone Screenshot

And it’s super easy. Whenever you’re on a screen you want to capture, just press the square button at the bottom of your phone and the power button at the same time. Now, I know this sounds like a soft reboot, but in this case, you don’t press and hold the buttons. Just a quick click will suffice. You’ll know you’ve succeeded if the screen flashes white.

Then just go into your Photos and view your Camera Roll. The new photo should have popped right in there. And you can do whatever you want with this newly taken picture, whether it be add it to one of your contacts, send it to your MobileMe, add it as a wallpaper or e-mail it to yourself. Handy little feature, if you ask me.

Watch a step-by-step tutorial on how to take iPhone screenshots below:
