Apple market cap hits $400B, Samsung patent suit shot down, Corona A5 tool

For a little while this week Apple was worth a staggering $400 billion in market cap. That massive number put Apple as a company worth more than Greece and several other small countries.

Samsung’s first patent suit over 3G tech against Apple has been shot down in Germany. The suit centered on alleged Apple infringement on 3G/UMTS patents that Samsung owns.

A new jailbreak tool for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 is incoming. The tool is called the Coronal A5 tool and it will let the user hack their device with the A5 processor inside.

Some odd cases have turned up for the iPhone 4 and 4S called the Holga case. These cases have a wheel over the lens with different filters to make artistic images with your iPhone.

Game developer Mobile Pie in the UK says that its in-app payment games have been hacked. The hack uses something called iAP Cracker and allows the download of virtual in-app purchases at no cost.

A four-inch screen iPhone 5 smartphone is tipped for 2012. Along with that larger screen, iPhone is also tipped a new iPad 3 tablet.

Logitech offers new iPhone headsets, iTunes account security issue, kinks getting worked out for Verizon iPhone

Logitech has unveiled a couple new Ultimate Ears headsets that will work with the iPhone for making and receiving calls. The headsets are the Ultimate Ears 500vi and 200vi with a mic and inline volume controls costing $79.99 and $39.99 respectively.

If your iTunes account is linked to your PayPal account, you had better check things out today. A bunch of accounts all around the country linked to PayPal have been hacked with as much as thousands of dollars in charges made.

A new rumor has surfaced again focusing on the long rumored Verizon iPhone. This rumor says that the kinks are still being worked out for the largest network around to get the iPhone and that the main thing is trying to decide if 2011 or 2012 is the goal for launch.

iTunes book scam, Evo versus iPhone 4, iPhone 4 reception issues a non-issue

iPhone users will want to check their accounts after a scam surfaced where accounts on iTunes were hacked and bogus charges were made for books. Some users report $1400 in charges for bogus books.

Apple announced late last week that the widely reported issues with the iPhone 4 and its reception were due in part to a bad formula. Apple says the reason the iPhone 4 shows less bars when held is due in part to a formula that shows more bars than the iPhone 4 really has.

iPhone and Android dominate, Yahoo apps, iPhone security flaw

A new report from AdMob has been issued that shows the iPhone and Android are dominating the mobile web. The iPhone now serves 50% of all requests to the mobile web.

Yahoo has launched two new apps for the iPhone this week. The apps include one for finding restaurants that lets you draw a circle on the map and find all eateries in the area. The other app uses voice commands to conduct searches.

The iPhone, Safari and IE8 were all nailed with security holes during the Pwn2Own hacking contest. The hackers created a website for the iPhone that pulled the devices SMS database out when the user surfed the page.

Emergent Retail unveiled a slick 4-in-1 charger today for the iPhone that will charge the device from USB, DC, or AC sources and acts as a sync cable for your computer. That means one cable will keep you going anywhere and the device has two additional USB ports too.

That band of merry iPhone hackers known as the iPhone Dev Team unveiled a couple new hacks today. One of the hacks enables MMS on the original iPhone and the other turns tethering back on for 3.1.2 OS. It’s Apple’s turn to block tethering again.

Wolfram Alpha unveiled a new iPhone app today that will be one of the most expensive apps available with a price of $50. The device is sort of like a gateway to knowledge, which sounds a lot like Google to me. The app has a high-end graphing calculator and all sorts of other analytics tools.
