Belkin Verizon cases, USA Today uses Tags, Onkyo Made for iPhone receivers

Belkin has announced that it has redesigned several of its cases to work with the Verizon iPhone 4. The cases will also work with the AT&T offering as well with prices starting at about $20.

Microsoft Tags are now being used in USA Today and a free iPhone app lets your smartphone read them. The tags offer interactive content like photos and video.

Onkyo has unveiled three new AV receivers for home theater and music fans. The three include the 7.2-channel TX-NR609, the 5.1-channel TX-NR509 and the 5.1-channel TX-SR309 and all are Made for iPhone certified.

Apple reports record profits, Sprint Nextel to get iPhone, Belkin TuneCast ships

Apple announced its earnings recently and posted profits that increased by 50% compared to the previous year. iPhone sales grew 100% compared to the previous year.

According to analysts Sprint Nextel may start offering the iPhone this fall. I bet the device makes it to all carriers in the country after the AT&T exclusive ends.

The Belkin TuneCast Auto Live accessory for the iPhone is now shipping in America. The device is available for $79.

Belkin has just released this 3G-ready TuneCast Auto which will help you get all of those slightly fuzzy radio stations by utilizing your iPhone or iPod. Just set both it and your iPhone to the station of choice and you’ll have your favorite radio station once again.

It will work with not only the iPhone 3G but the 1st Gen iPhone as well as iPods. They have a full list of all compatible devices here if you’d like to confirm your gadget will work with it.

It also doubles as a car charger to make sure your iPhone stays juiced up. To pick one up it will cost you $80.

Belkin’s iPhone headphone adapter put to the test

Reviews of the simplest products would, ostensibly, be the easiest to write, but in actual fact can be hardest; iPhone Central cope pretty well with their coverage of Belkin’s Headphone Adapter for iPhone. Costing just $11 (although many argue that Apple – having caused the socket issue in the first place – should have included an adapter in with the phone itself), it’s a two-inch long rubber-clad rod with a plug at one end and socket it the other.

iPhone Central decided that the bendable adapter, despite being the simplest on offer of those announced, did its job without unduly impacting on audio clarity, though I’d still personally have doubts about anything that protrudes so much from the side of the handset. Looks like an accident waiting to happen to me.

iPhone case: look before you buy the Belkin Acrylic case

Should my iPhone ever get scratched this bad, caused by a case I bought to protect it; I’d need years of therapy.

According to tnkgrl, that’s exactly what happened. She along with others are coming forward with the following claim, “the Belkin acrylic case I purchased to protect my iPhone is scratching my iPhone… can you believe it?”

Tnkgrl wrote in to share her sad story with my iTablet community:

It appears that some debris (?) is getting trapped between the Belkin acrylic case and my iPhone, and is leaving marks on the aluminum and plastic back cover, as well as the stainless steel screen bezel. The iPhone is a bit loose in the case, so maybe that’s the problem!

Before you think that I’m being careless:
- I always put my devices in cases (either acrylic or silicone) to protect them
- I always put my devices alone in my pockets (no coins, keys or other items)
- Even cheap (eBay special) acrylic cases have never scratched any of my devices before
- My pockets are clean of debris

I’ve contacted Apple and Belkin… I’ll keep you posted!

Good luck with getting this issue resolved. Any members with experience in dealing with this kind of stuff please offer up some advice for our friend tnkgrl.

Belkin was kind enough to send me a couple of iPhone accessories such as the acrylic case, and headphone connector.

The Acrylic case doesn’t provide much of a protection should you drop it. I found in my review that the front piece that connects to the back piece holding the iPhone in place easily pops off. So I urge you to be very careful using this case. It’s pretty to use and extremely stylish. The Acrylic case allows full access to the iPhone ports, screen and buttons. The belt also doubles as a “video-viewing stand.” The Acrylic case sells for $29.99.

Thanks to Apple’s modification to the headphone connector, accessory makers now have an opportunity to cash in. That’s right, in order to fit most standard-size headphones on the market, you need to purchase a headphone adapter, or you can use the headphones provided by Apple. This is set you back around $10, depending on where you buy it.

First look: Belkin Acrylic Case for iPhone hands-on

Unless you’re a freak like me and have decided to go naked with your iPhone, you may want to invest in a case of some sort. Speaking of cases, I’ll be at the Apple store on 5th Ave in Manhattan starting tomorrow and I’ve got more than enough goodies to pass out. If you’re in the vicinity, make sure to drop by tomorrow ‘til Friday to say hello and win cool prizes for your shiny new iPhone.

Ok, so back to the Acrylic case for the iPhone, it’s pretty slick. Extremely light weight and super slim. It’s high pocket-able, rugged and doesn’t look too shabby.
