Vista Perfection theme looks strikingly real

We have seen some Windows Vista themes before, but they have traditionally been limited to Vista style icons and backgrounds. Vista Perfection is changing all that, with what is no doubt one of the most thorough themes that are available for the iPhone to date. Everything is Vista themed, and when I say everything, don’t kid yourself I mean everything.

The dock has been replaced with a windows style task bar. Since the iPhone does not support background processes, I have to assume those are dock icons to launch applications. There is even a Windows Vista sidebar on the screen, which appears to be part of the background image. The theme has over 90 icons available, and should theme most of the applications you have installed.

It does not stop there. The unlock screen, has been themed as the Windows Vista login screen. The WiFi icon, EDGE icon, and even the slide to unlock arrow have all been themed as well. The booting and shutdown screens are even themed. The theme will be available on Installer shortly, but for now you can get it here. Here is a shot of the iPhone booting with this theme installed.

Courvoisier iPhone: For the high-tech hard drinkers

Customized iPhones are nothing new, in fact, as time goes by they are becoming more and more the norm. Not to mention, in general they become more nifty each time a new one is spotted. Now there have been some interesting ones to say the least, and now we have this. A Courvoisier themed iPhone.

As you can see they have plated the iPhone, and slapped some good old Courvoisier branding on the back. They spared nothing, as the front has some plating on it as well. Other devices to get hit with the branding include an iPod, and an 8800 series BlackBerry.

I know the burning question. “How can I get one?” You are in luck, as they are hitting eBay on May 19th. They did not mention a price, maybe a if you ask you can’t afford it deal? Either way, it is safe to expect a very generous price tag for this bad boy.

On-the-fly iPhone theme changes with iSwitcher

There’s a growing number of fan-made themes for the iPhone which, if you’ve been keeping up with Jailbreaking your handset and generally tweaking it, have offered plenty of options for personalisation. However, one thing missing so far has been a way to flip between themes while away from your computer; imagine the horror at pulling out your iPhone to impress a lady when your arch-rival whips his out with – oh no! – the same Spiderman wallpaper! Thankfully Greg over at ModMyiPhone is tinkering with an app called iSwitcher, designed to make on-the-fly changes simple.

So far there’s no release client, but eventually it’ll offer full-screen previews, side-scrolling and one-touch install of a chosen theme. Nice work, Greg!

Apple theme for Sony’s PSP

Some so-called iPhone themes for rival devices have been little more than a new icon set and a couple of wallpapers; alternatively, you get the product of many hours of work and real consideration as to how Apple might have developed an interface for a different device. AppleCor, a theme for the Sony PSP, definitely falls into the latter category: coders from the QJ.NET forums have put together an awesome, comprehensive package that, in their words, “approximate[s] how Apple may have designed the PSP if given the chance.”

Looking at the screenshots, I had to keep reminding myself that this was all running on Sony’s handheld console. They’ve pulled together ideas from Mac computers, the iPhone and AppleTV together with authentic sounds and visual effects, all the time keeping the full functionality the PSP provides.

It’s a free download from here, and obviously you’ll need to have a PSP to try it on! This forum thread has plenty of detail about the theme and is the best place to ask questions and voice any issues. Let us know in the comments how you get on!

Man, you know the iPhone is big when Playboy starts producing content for the it. That’s right, you’ll be able to get free Playboy wallpapers, pics, videos and MP3s that have been specially made for the hottest phone that’s (soon to be) on the market.

The collection is titled iPlayboy and will be free for download at Playboy.com. You’ll get a collection of 12 non-nude Playmate wallpapers and 12 additional Playmate photos. You’ll also get a 1-hour episode of Playboy Radio’s “The Playboy Hour” and a a Cyber Girl video.

That’s one of the hottest free promotions targeting iPhone users that I’ve heard yet. It looks like Hustler Magazine is going to have some catching up to do.

New iPhone skin for any WM5 smartphones

There are a number of iPhone skins floating around the Internet. This particular iPhone skin is designed for the application Wisbar Advance.

I havenâ€™t personally test this skin out, so for those planning on using it, please shoot me an email with images or provide some feed back in the comments. If itâ€™s not too much trouble, provide a rating from 0 to 5.

I believe this skin is the same as the one in the video below. This iPhone skin is the best one I’ve seen for the Pocket PC â€“ ever. Itâ€™s so damn good that Apple had the original copy yanked from Youtube.

This video of the E-TEN M600 Pocket PC is literally pr0n for all Windows Mobile fans hard up for an iPhone UI look-a-like (tops the “Best damn iPhone skin for WM5 (almost)“. As you will see in the video, the icons are just shortcuts to applications. However, thatâ€™s really nothing compared to the screensaver and scrolling.

Apple’s iPhone “Cover Flow” UI for your crappy MotoQ

News Flash 6/3/2007:

There’s the iPhone copycat skin for the Motorazr, and now it looks like a bunch of smarty-pants at a Scottish company managed to duplicate the same UI right down to the effects, style and animation for the MotoQ. So they claim. The anonymous tip I got in went on to say that the animation isnâ€™t done using Adobe’s “crappy Flash Lite,” and left it at that. You can browse and flip through the album with the 4-way navigation key.

So if this indeed true, how are they doing it? Anyone with more info, please email me.

Now, if it quacks like a duck and walk like a duck, is it a duck? Nope. I don’t care how similar the UI of another phone resembles the iPhone; it’s still not the iPhone.

iPhone Theme for your crappy Motorola RAZR

News Flash 6/3/2007:

I don’tt personally think that the Motorola RAZR deserves to wear the iPhone skin period. The skin features icons such as Bluetooth connectivity, Safari launch, and phone launch. Just remember that installing a custom skin may void Motorola’s warranty. If you still want to do it, it’s available for you to download should you still want it.
