by Chris Davies on April 10, 2008

The recently released iPhone SDK Beta 3 continues to give up juicy hints as to Apple's intents for the handset's next major update; not only has the 3G chipset been identified but new code referring to stereo Bluetooth headset support, suggestions of GPS and new functionality for mobile Safari and Google Maps.  There are also signs that Apple may not be taking the ongoing hacking of the iPhone lying down, with the ... continued »

Sun developing Java Virtual Machine for iPhone

by Vincent Nguyen on March 14, 2008

I was under the impression that Apple said they wouldn’t allow code parser such as Sun’s JVM on the iPhone. Sun came to the conclusion it could make a JVM work on the iPhone after taking 24 hours to look at information on Apple's SDK. Sun saw nothing in the public statements preventing the JVM from being one of the applications enabled on the iPhone, said Klein. Apple released the SDK ... continued »

by Staff Editor on March 14, 2008

As developers eagerly download the iPhone SDK, is the gloss beginning to rub off? Robert Balousek spotted a potentially app-upsetting clause in the software's documentation regarding third-party apps and background processes. Well, there’s a little longer to go yet - Software Update 2.0, which includes all this goodness, isn’t released until June. by Staff Editor on March 14, 2008

interest in iPhone SDK announcements is fast reaching saturation point (meaning we can all move on to theorising about whether the 3G iPhone will be announced at the WWDC, predicted to be in June) so as to underline the whole event Apple have put up a video of the full presentation. Nobody was permitted to film during yesterday's announcements, so if you've been waiting to see footage of ... continued »

iPhone 2.0 features mass deleting and moving emails & view PowerPoint presentations

by Staff Editor on March 14, 2008

Is June here yet? Why? Because I can’t wait to get my sweaty palms on the iPhone 2.0 firmware! According to the press release, iPhone 2.0 will let you move or delete emails in mass. This is one of those features that Apple should have made available out the door when the iPhone was launched. The second thing isn’t a big deal for me, but ... continued »
