A while ago, AT&T announced prices for customers who were not eligible for an upgrade. From March 26, AT&T are offering 8GB and 16GB iPhones at a no commitment price.

A collection of presentation pages were found from The Boy Genius Report, detailing a recent report that AT&T plans to offer iPhone 3Gs without the customer required to sign a two-year agreement. The great news is that you do not need to perform an activation/unbrick at the point of purchase.

A possible catch is the need to have an AT&T line before you proceed. From the presentation presented below, it will be interesting to see how / if this can be tracked effectively. iPhone sales have been flying since their release as well as AT&T offering the handsets for $199 last year. For those that want an iPhone without a contract, this might be the deal for you. It does mean looking into monthly wireless plans. Personally I like mobile plans + phones over a ‘period’ (whether 12 or 24 months) as you take your phone with you, just please don’t get me started on the shenanigans of my current home phone situation, contracts and cancellations…
