RIP: PhoneSaber

by Chris Scott Barr on August 8, 2008

One of my favorite, albeit pointless apps for my iPhone is PhoneSaber. It's the simple app that turns your phone into a lightsaber. It uses the accelerometer to make lightsaber sound effects as you swing around your phone. It's definitely a must-have for any Star Wars fan, however, it has been pulled from the App Store. continued »

Quickie Review: Comet Cowboy Lite

by Chris Scott Barr on August 8, 2008

Asteroids is one of those games that's been around since the beginning of time, or at least since before I was born. The concept is simple, you point your space ship at an asteroid, and shoot it. You can also move around to avoid getting hit, and the larger chunks of space rock break into smaller bits. Well, Comet Cowboy is similar to Asteroids, except that you don't blow up ... continued »

Frogger hops onto your iPhone

by Chris Scott Barr on August 7, 2008

When I was a kid we had a computer lab full of old Apple II computers, which we would use maybe twice a year to play games on. We had several games to choose from, but I really only remember two that I would play; Oregon Trail and Frogger. Quickie Review: Hangman

by Chris Scott Barr on August 6, 2008

I can bet that almost everyone has played the game hangman at some point in their life. It's a simple game, someone picks a word and draws a series of lines that corresponds to the number of letters in the word. As you guess letters, each wrong guess gets a body part drawn on a stick figure until either youv'e guessed the right word, or you run out of parts. ... continued »

Quickie Review: Subway Shuffle Lite

by Chris Scott Barr on August 6, 2008

It's true that there are a lot of games for the iPhone that are simply re-hashes of old games. There's nothing wrong with that, since many of the classic games are fun to play. But it's nice when something original comes along like Subway Shuffle. continued »

Quickie Review: iMaze

by Chris Scott Barr on August 5, 2008

I always enjoyed solving mazes as a kid, so I thought that iMaze might be enjoyable on the iPhone. It's a simple concept, just hold your iPhone flat and tilt it to move the ball through the maze. Unfortunately it's not nearly as fun as it sounds. continued »
