AT&T logoThings are changing over at AT&T, they've been dealing with their rebranding from Cingular to AT&T Wireless, which still has a way to go. Now they've got a new CEO to really shake things up just before the iPhone's launch.

One of the first things that the new CEO Randall Stephenson will be doing is putting more focus on the iPhone. According to Stephenson “We are putting a lot of money behind the launch as well, to drive traffic to the Apple stores and the AT&T wireless stores."

He also hyped up the iPhone by saying "whatever your expectations are from this device, they are probably too low." However, it is discerning to hear "I'll be really disappointed if there's not a shortage." I'm pretty sure that he'll be the only one disappointed if there's not a shortage.

Hm. I wonder where Stan Sigman is going in this new AT&T? A lot of folks criticised AT&T for bending to Apple’s whims, and he seemed especially intent on noting in January that it was a multi-year contract. At anyrate, we’ll see I guess. We’ll see.

As an employee of Cingular (now the new AT&T), I can tell you that Stan is still leading the wireless side of our business. He has done a fantastic job over the past few years and is highly respected w/in the company. He has been a pioneer in the industry and has led well. He reports to the new CEO. We fully expect the iPhone to win us fairly significant market share. It will be an amazing communication device and a great tool. The exclusive deal w/ Apple is for 5 years! Verizon says they aren’t worried about this new device; that the pressure is on us and Apple? Hmmm….we shall see!

I’m with Sprint, and I have the Treo. With that, I get my music wirelessly through the “M” app, and I have great features on the phone. I have no reason to switch, iPhone or not. I’ll stick with what I’ve got.

There’s plenty more of us hoping you do stick with what you’ve got! More chance for us to get one. hehe.

I’m with sprint as well, I like there customer support, and voice service… however AT&T was decent when I had them previously. So I am excited to purchase my new iPhone and get the enhanced data services it provides. Just glad it’s not Verizon or T-Mobile, they were both the worst!
