Taking out insurance for cellphones is nothing new; considering the beating many of them take in normal life, it can make sense to protect what can end up being an expensive gadget to replace. Now imagine your horror if it wasn’t just some crappy old Nokia you snapped, but your beautiful new iPhone… hold that reaction and head over to Apple with your credit card, as they’ll happily take $69 off you for their AppleCare Protection Plan.
Available from this month and valid for purchase any time within your first year of the standard guarantee, the AppleCare plan covers you for an extra year for hardware problems, including the battery.

the link takes you to the iPhone page but NOT to a place to buy applecare for your phone… there is NO PLACE on Apple’s site for applecare purchase… I searched pretty hard. Nothing… not yet anyway.
Ah yes, sorry – you need to click on the “warranty” halfway down the page. There’s no way to link specifically to that tab, unfortunately.

I used the chat feature in Apple iPhone support to ask about this. Nothing is on sale right now. In fact, it may be mid-August before any IPhone dedicated Applecare options are released for sale.
In other words, this article is premature.
The apple care products are linked up with the .mac stuff. If you do a search for applecare you can find it rather quickly. Here’s a direct link : http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=19D94099&nplm=MB135LL/A
Probably going to pick up mine at the applestore near me though.
Share and Enjoy!
