all though most bring up a good point my thought was the only reason they brought out the 16gb model was to get more room for the SDK and such . I am so pumped for the update to come out

I hope iPhone will be 3G capable come this update that may happen tomorrow. If not, oh well. I’ll probably just stick with my current 8GB iPhone and then buy the new iPhone when the price drops again. Hehehe iPhones will probably be pretty hard to update, so they won’t lose their value as easily as iPods do. Seriously, after this update, what else can you do to an iPhone to make it better other than adding more GB and tweaking features via 10 minute iTunes updates?

It’s pretty ironic that you call the sweetness which is the iphone “POS” when it is now the icon after which all other new cell phones are designed. So I say, go ahead and stick with your windows mobile phone; however, the rest of the world will be moving forward.

yes the 3G update will be delivered via the itunes.. that was that main pupose of them implementing 3G on the sim card.. its a cod that will patch your iphone to the networks. they did it this way that way you wouldnt have to buy a new handset soley because of 3G.. only if your getting double storage you would buy a newer phone.

Um… sorry but that’s like saying i can update my computer from a pentium4 to a core2duo with a download…
The hardware isn’t there, how can u turn on a switch to hardware that isn’t there? The sim card being capable doesn’t matter because there’s no 3g hardware, otherwise, i promise someone would’ve rigged theirs to use 3g.

The reason they never released 3g on the iphone was because of power consumption of 3g+all the iphone features, made the battery life unbearable… according to steve jobs.

So until 3g technology consumes less power, or batteries get better… there won’t be a 3g iphone.

We’ll know about a 3G iPhone well in advance because it will need to be submitted for public regulatory approval before it can be sold.

I agree, 3G via iTunes update, remember there is already a 3G SIM card in these babies…talk about proving to the world that OTA updates are the wave of the future! All you have to do is “tunr on” a switch inside, bets anyone? :)
