So you think the iPhone is big and expensive huh? Well, I haven't heard anyone complain that it's too big, but more than one person has said that the price is a bit high. If analysts are to be believed, there could be a cheaper and possibly smaller iterations of the phone in the future.

This latest prediction comes from Shaw Wu, an analyst from American Technology Research. He predicts that Apple may already be working on a cheaper version of the iPhone, very much like they made the iPod nano as a cheaper alternative to the original iPod.
That's great and all, but it's a pretty vague prediction. I do hope that Apple is working on something like this, if they could reach a lower pricepoint, they could be as big as the iPod.
Shaw Wu Predicts Cheaper iPhones Sometime Later [via gizmodo]

I doubt the whole nano. The iPhone = OS X. I don’t think you’ll be able to get OS X to run and deliver anything near the experience of iPhone on something smaller. At least not with today’s technology. Afer all, you can’t play video on the nano as it is now. How do you think they are going to get OS X into that form factor, to say nothing of inputting any valid text using touchscreen technology?
Cheaper versions of the iPhone later? Sure. I could buy that. And by buy I mean believe, not purchasing. But downsizing the form factor and still deliver the iPhone experience? Na.

The HTC Touch – touchscreen is smaller than the iPhone, I definitely have difficulties inputing text. I don’t mind the size of the iPhone, but one future improvement might be to slim it down even more. The width and height is just fine.
