i have a HTC magic and im not very happy, i loved it at first but its my third one in less than a month, the first one just wouldnt turn on my second one had to to some hardware update and i was going to lose all my data so this third one apperntly will be PERFECT ! honestly if i have one more problem with this phone, i dont want to bother with it anymore. i always seem to pick the phones with problems !
if you include all my htc magic in total.
my 3 year contract isnt even up and ive been threw 5 PHONES going on my 6th with this 3rd HTC magic.
right now im not recomending it.

I dropped AT&T (U.S.) and the iPhone 2 days ago. Signed up with T-Mobile and got the HTC Magic. I LOVE IT!!! The phone itself is far superior with the touch screen and the physical buttons. Not to mention the track ball is nice! Also, the Android OS kills the iPhone 3.0 software.

Most consumers will follow trends and buy the iPhone. That's fine w/ me. I don't mind allowing them to be pawns for Apple and AT&T. They get what those companies give them. I get what users want.

By the way, everyone that has an iPhone (including my fiancee) loves my HTC Magic. Some are even upset they re-upped their contract with AT&T to get an iPhone. Now they're stuck for 2 years, or pay the ETF......SUCKERS!!!!

just don't always live up to the hype which people drum up about them. iphones are good but there not this good.

The magics operating system is Android, not windows. And I agree with Nick, the iPhone has more cosmetic appeal than the Magic BUT the Magic has way more potential considering the comparitively more flexible open source software. The G1 (Dream) was too slow and laggy, not to mention bulky but from a practical point of view, superior to the iPhone on many levels. For example, replaceable memory and battery, picture messaging, exclusive apps like ShopSavvy which are usually jaw dropping to most people who see it for the 1st time, not to mentiom that it is insurable!

Compared to the G1, the Magic is faster, more responsive, sleeker, and is capable of everything the G1 is capable of,and more plus more powerful and faster. Battery life has been improved, it has better connectivity like bluetooth 2.0 (iPhone does not). Considering the Magic is lighter than both devices it is sure to be much more durable when dropped as well. If it does break, you probably have insurance against damage, theft, and loss anyway.

Bottom line: The G1 could not kill the iPhone due to a buggy and comparitively laggier interface but the Magic appears to be polished and sophisticated enough to finish the job that the G1 started.

May you rest in pieces IPhone. Lol

This would be a 2nd gen Android phone, to be sold in Europe on Vodaphone. No word yet on NA release.

If the Magic is Windows, and HTC is Windows, they can keep it. That's my gentle way of saying they can stuff it.

Don't want to sound like a fanboy but that HTC has a fat arse too. Look how thick it appears on the image.

Much prefer the design of the iPhone.
