So let’s say that you worked at one of Apple’s retail stores roughly around the time when the iPhone was released. If you were so lucky, you, and all of your co-workers, got a free iPhone courtesy of your employer, Apple.

I’d be as giddy as a little school girl if I got a free iPhone. What I sure as hell wouldn’t do is try and cash in on the $100 rebate that came out a few months later when they dropped the iPhone price.

Apparently there were at least 800 people with far less decency than me. Did they forget the part where they didn’t pay for the iPhone in the first place? Its ok, I consider it much like the gene pool, occasionally it needs a good colonic to clear all the crap out.
Apple Employees Fired For Collecting Rebates on Free iPhones [via Gizmodo]

Pink slips or it didn’t happen… =P
1 – The heck with pink slips, clear the gene pool once and for all! Just shoot them (yes, I am joking), but really, what were they thinking?
2 – I can’t wait to read a post by someone who says “they” should have been given a second chance, or the policy did not specifically state they could not, or … ! Whomever, posts one of these needs to be added to the gene pool list for the good colonic!
I don’t see what the problem is. These people were taking advantage of an offer for all iPhone owners.
2- I really don’t get people who are on Apple’s side for this. Apple is a huge corporation – the net effect of this “scam” was $80,000 in Apple rebates. That’s not even a rounding error on the earnings report. It will cost more $$$ for Apple to hire new people.
I’m going with poster #1: I think it’s an elaborate troll and didn’t happen. If there’s anything Steve Jobs is known for, it’s for being pragmatic. Firing those people just doesn’t make any business sense.
Complete BS: Here is the official terms and condition off of Apple:
“Some iPhones will not qualify for a credit. They are:
…(4) iPhones that Apple provided to employees, either for personal use or for departmental use…”
How’s that for trolling hahahahaa. ;)
