Yes, you guys did not read it correctly…the 3G reference was in regard to the low end model that is designed to appeal to emerging markets. There had been talk of a low end product that would be only WiFi, but this report claims to have sources saying it will be a 3G model. Apple has been studying an emerging market product for a long time.

With regard to pricing with NAND, they are a company with a finite production capacity that can not be turned on a dime. If they have one large order for a product, it limits supply and therefore causes the price of their product to go up.

I think I can speak for everybody in saying this doesn’t make sense; the new phone will run on 3g and will be compatible with Wifi.. as it was with the last phone.

I call bullshit. Why would Apple release ANYTHING to emerging markets before it’s own home turf? They’ve never done that before, why would they start now?

Also, as Matthew pointed out, what does capacity have to do with the network it runs on? And since when does it have to choose either 3G OR WiFi? Placing large orders of a product also doesn’t make the price go UP, it goes DOWN. This is a poorly written April fools joke.
